Totally Retro
My style since the beginning of this year has been going more and more towards the forties and fifties. My favorite decade always used to be the twenties...but that style does not work so well on plus size girls with their weight in their middle. And lately all I've wanted to do is learn how to do victory rolls. (I'm not very good with hair though so I haven't even tried yet.) But I've been incorporating more pinup makeup styles and I bought these awesome cat-eye frames from my favorite vintage clothing store Fred and Ethel's Antiques.
These pictures were taken awhile ago, because I am horrible at keeping up with blogging. That's one of my goals for the summer...to blog on at least a semi-regular basis. My hair was very freshly dyed and now that's the color's grown out a bit, I like it much better. I have a fairly colorful wardrobe and not everything works with bright red. Yellow is not my color no matter what my hair color, but I really love how comfy this jacket is so I wore it anyway.
I will admit my shoes are beaten up.
They're pretty scuffed but they are comfy and red (which matches mooooosst of my wardrobe) and the only heels I really feel comfortable in. So I deal with it.

Blazers and Scarves and Dots, oh my!
This is my last winter outfit to upload! Illinois is still coming out of this ridiculous winter but today it rained instead of snowed and I definitely welcome that over the snow.
Lately, I've been buying a lot of blazers and structured jackets. Because of my shape, I'm starting to realize that cardigans (as much as I love them) look kind of frumpy on me unless I buy them several sizes smaller. But the structured look compliments my frame more.
I used to dislike corduroy for no good reason. This blazer is very stretchy so it fits my broad shoulders much better than most jackets. Therefore I had to buy it and I subsequently decided I have no reason for not liking corduroy.
The dress is one of my favorites because it hugs my body but not so much that you see everything :)
The other thing I remember about this outfit is that I was wearing my thermal tights. My thermal tights are a little too big for me (but the smaller size is too small) and they tend to fall down, BUT I figured out that I can put a small thin belt around them and they stay up.
The things we do to dress nicely in -20F weather....

Farewell, Winter
New blog!!!
Hey everyone!
So I'll be honest, I got really busy last semester and it continued through winter break and what suffered was my blog posting, especially since I almost never got to dress nicely due to my class schedule. Then I was not happy with my blog layout and since I'm not extremely computer savvy and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I decided to change from Wordpress to Blogger, got a layout that I'm extremely happy with, and I've figured out how to do everything on blogger quicker than I could on wordpress! Hopefully all this progress will encourage me to not be a lazy bum about blogging.
These are some pictures my friend Katie from took forrrever ago. And by forever, I mean December. But still. They are not representative of what I can wear outside today (no coat!), but they are some of my favorite pictures I've taken. So, in honor of the end of this long, godforsaken winter, have some plaid.
The shoes are my favorite part of my outfit. They are one of the items in my slowly-growing Modcloth collection. They go with 90% of my closet so I have to restrain myself from wearing them every time I dress up more than normal.
Thanks for visiting my new blog!
